5 Best Goals At The 2018 World Cup Group Stages

France won the World Cup 2018 trophy in Moscow on Sunday after a hard-fought campaign that witnessed various twists and turns along the way.

After a 20-year wait, France overcame Croatia 4-2 to win their first World Cup trophy under coach Didier Deschamps, who also won the cup as captain for Les Bleus in 1998.

Several players etched their names into history books during the course of the month in Russia, scoring some of the most memorable goals in the tournament’s history. The World Cup 2018 saw it all, from exquisite free kicks to devastating counter-attacks to incredible curves.

Here are some of the best goals from the 2018 World Cup group stages:

  • Philippe Coutinho vs Switzerland

Known for his amazing curves, the Brazilian did not disappoint as he produced a spectacular finish during the match between Brazil and Swtizerland. However, his strike was not enough to secure all three points for Brazil as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

  • Nacho Fernandez vs Portugal

The Real Madrid star scored a wonder goal for Spain when they faced Portugal in the group stage of Russia 2018.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo vs Spain

Ronaldo scored a hattrick for Portugal against Spain but his freekick goal was definitely the most amazing of the three.

  • Ricardo Quaresma vs Iran

Quaresma produced an incredible strike when Portugal clashed with Iran at the 2018 World Cup group stage.

  • Ahmed Musa vs Iceland

Musa’s second goal for Nigeria against Iceland was such a spectacular goal. Little wonder he is Nigeria’s all-time top scorer at the World Cup.
